Altitude music festival is honoured to welcome the LA-based, bass-music savant Tsuruda. The Shambhala veteran is gracing the BC festival scene with his return, and he’s bringing all of the hip-hop infused deep dub you could ever dream of along with him. Rest assured: every track he drops will be nothing short of the audio equivalent of raining heavy artillery on the dance floor.

A leader in the Los Angeles bass scene, producer/DJ Tsuruda is a classically trained musician who commands a distinctive sound that blends elements of experimental hip-hop with avant-garde electronics. First debuting in 2014, Tsuruda has captivated wide-eyed audiences with his dynamic sound and hypnotizing live sets, which have taken him to marquee festivals like Shambhala Music Festival and EDC Las Vegas, in addition to his own solo tours throughout North America and beyond.

Today, he stands at the upper echelon of bass music culture with one of the most impressive bodies of work in independent electronic music. Tsuruda has self-released four full-length projects — ‘drumsand,’ ‘madness,’ ‘rawflavor’ and ‘RIP’ — in addition to his two-part compilation series, ‘Internet Slaps Vol. 1’ and ‘Internet Slaps Vol. 2.’ His discography includes singles on labels like Team Supreme, Darker Than Wax and 1985 Music, plus remixes for Noisia, The Glitch Mob and more.

An in-demand live act, Tsuruda is known for his mind-bending sets. He’s performed at EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, Shambhala Music Festival and more. In 2018, Tsuruda was handpicked as one of the select artists to close out the influential Los Angeles event series, Low End Theory

With influences like Madlib and Flying Lotus, Tsuruda's style is diverse, elegant, and complex. Disregarding all genres, he isn't afraid to push the boundaries of electronic bass and hip hop music. His idiosyncratic and third-eye-opening live sets are always a unique surprise and have taken him around North America sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the game.

Tsuruda’s musical trajectory has been marked by a swift push into the bleeding edge of underground music and culture. Now laser-focused on making more music than ever, Tsuruda today expands his ever-evolving sound to new dimensions.
